Pearch Ferry Launch is Closed temporarily
| Due to Lake Mead's low water level since 2002,
Pearce Ferry launch ramp is non operational, likely
for several more years. Below is an aerial picture taken
March 9, 2002 to give you an idea of the water level.
During the drought you should use the South Cove launch
ramp for the eastern part of Lake Mead.

Pearce Ferry is about as remote as you can get for launch
locations. There are about 10 primitive campsites for free camping, no hookups or
services, so bring everything. NO cellphone coverage or payphones are
available at Pearce Ferry either. Payphones are available in Meadview along with
motels, RV Park, gas, and stores, about 20 minutes away.

The launch area is wide enough for about 4-5 launches at a time.
As you can see below it's a gentle sloping dirt launch area, so use caution. When
launching, simply make sure to keep the waterline below the bottom of your back door so
you don't flood your vehicle.
Although this launch area requires backing in the water farther
than normal it isn't a problem for smaller boats. For
larger boats we recommend launching at South Cove, also about 8 miles from Meadview. South
Cove is the same driving distance from Meadview but its about 16 miles farther from
the Grand Canyon (vs. Pearce Ferry) by water because it's on the other side of
the mountain in the Gregg Basin (see the map).

The state of Arizona has provided these nice toilets at
Pearce
Ferry, much nicer than you will find at primitive campsites on the Nevada side of the
lake. With all the gambling revenue you would think
that Nevada wouldn't be eclipsed by Arizona such as this, but apparently the
state doesn't care for lake recreation.
In the background you can see tables with shade. There are only a few of
these, first come first serve.
