Lone Rock, Lake Powell

Lone Rock is fairly close to Wahweap Marina, about 4mi NW of the marina.  Lone Rock Beach is one of the few areas at Lake Powell that you can drive to the lake's edge and dry camp.  If you like dry camping this is the ideal place for you to enjoy the wonders of Lake Powell while staying on a budget. Lone Rock beach offers one of the nicest camping beaches in Utah. With Wahweap Marina nearby (via water) you have access to ice, gas and food for a week vacation in style.  By land the town of Page is about 11mi away for more selection and better prices.

The scenery of the area is absolutely incredible with Lone Rock staring you in the face every morning, and capturing the golden sun rays in the evening.  Some of the best water ski areas are near Lone Rock Beach with few boaters once you get away from the beach.  There are lots of coves throughout Lake Powell, ideal for wake boarding and water skiing.

Depending on the water level there is good cliff jumping across the bay from Lone Rock beach, accessible by boat only.  Be careful with cliff jumping though, make sure the water is deep enough for the height your jumping from. People have died jumping from Lake Powell cliffs.

It's important to know that launching boats from Lone Rock beach is next to impossible due to the soft sand.  To launch a boat you'll need to drive to Wahweap Marina to launch, about a 5mi drive from the beach.  Once you launch you can moor your boat/PWC on the beach overnight.

For PWC, if you have a 4WD truck or SUV I've seen launch and retrieval done at Lone Rock beach.  It really depends on the water level and the area you're trying to launch. This is something you'll need to check out when you get there, but worse case you can launch at the Wahweap Marina boat ramp.
